Not A Celebrity Stylist

My name is Tatum, and I am not a celebrity hair stylist.

It’s true. My grand total of current clients who are celebs is zero.

I am your average, every day, small town, behind the chair 5 days a week stylist. OK, maybe that’s not entirely true.

My average, every day is actually anything but….and in addition to my 5 days behind the chair I share my passion for color, chemistry and form as an ASK Expert for Schwarzkopf Profesional. I’ve been afforded such opportunities as being  part of the teams supporting the talent that is Michael Dueñas for national Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS+ brand videos and New York Fashion Week; also as the hair stylist for styled shoots for Momental Designs that have been featured in bridal magazines such as Smitten (Issue 11: Modish) and Magnolia Rouge and on bridal blogs such as Green Wedding Shoes and Ruffled.

In my 15 years working with salon guests and almost 10 years as an educator I have noticed something that is probably pretty obvious to most……we, as a nation, are celebrity obsessed. I also noticed that I’m really not.

To be clear, as most hair stylists who truly love their craft, celebrities do have a certain impact on my life as they are in a position to be noticed and set trends. However, I refuse to pretend I truly know anything about someone from reading a magazine article or seeing a 3 minute interview on TV or (worst of all) a click-bait piece on your favorite celeb obsessed website.

I do, however, have the opportunity to talk to and get to know truly amazing people every day in real life.

My goal with this blog is to share stories of everyday people I’ve met through my work who I believe are great role models or just have interesting stories to tell. Maybe even encourage a few people to log off, put down their phone and have a conversation with a stranger. You never know what you’ll learn or who you’ll meet. And, of course, share my tips and tricks on their hair color and styles.  Occasionally a few of my colleagues will also share.

Thanks for taking time to get to know a few really good people.

Tatum
